HSBC Amanah has named Arsalaan Ahmed as its new Chief Executive Officer to lead the firm’s Islamic banking business for retail, commercial, and wholesale banking in Malaysia.
Arsalaan was previously head of Barwa Bank in Qatar where he was instrumental in the development of the Islamic debt capital markets and wholesale bank platform.
Arsalaan is thought leader in Islamic banking, ethical finance, and an expert in Sharia-compliant retail, corporate, and investment banking.
“As Malaysia strengthens its role as the Islamic finance hub of Asia, it is crucial that we aid the progress with the right leadership, innovation, and world-class syariah-compliant products and services,” said Mukhtar Hussain, HSBC Bank CEO.
