Ethical fund assets marked a 62 percent increase in 2015 reaching USD 52 billion, shows the latest Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) Benchmark Report.
Data show that the ethical sector has doubled in two years as responsible investing redefines the investment landscape.
“There’s been a massive awakening in ethical investing. Investors have realized they can invest in a way that helps rather than harms the planet, without sacrificing returns. We are rapidly heading towards a ‘tipping point’.”, RIAA CEO Simon O’Connor says.
Moreover, the new generation of investors are aligning their investment values with personal values. The rise is due to the consistent outperformance of ethical funds on average; and belated recognition that ethical investing reduces portfolio risk.
