The International Shariah Research Academy for Islamic Finance (ISRA) has just launched the new and improved version of its Islamic Finance Knowledge Repository portal (I-FIKR). I-FIKR, which was first developed in 2012 and launched by the form Governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz, is a platform to host various publications of ISRA.
However, with growing demands of the Islamic finance industry for sound references and new developments in the digital era, ISRA has revamped the I-FIKR portal to suit both advancements.
The new I-FIKR portal was launched by Dr. Maszlee Malik, Minister of Education, Malaysia at the International Shariah Scholars Forum (ISSF), organised by ISRA and the Islamic Research and Training Institute (IRTI), marking ISRA’s 10th year Anniversary on 1st October 2018. According to ISRA’s Executive Director, Professor Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin:
“I-FIKR is a one-stop portal that provides authentic resources and materials related to Islamic finance, which makes it a unique portal.”
Datuk Dr. Mohd Daud Bakar, the Chairman of Shariah Advisory Council of Bank Negara Malaysia & Securities Council, mentioned:
“I would like to encourage everyone to use this platform to increase your level of knowledge, level of wisdom and your level of capability building to become one of the best Shariah scholars & Shariah researcher in the world”, while Sheikh Dr. Nizam M.S. Yaquby, Member of Shari’ah Supervisory Board Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Financial Institutions stated that: “I-FIKR is a very innovative idea and it gives a snapshot & short introduction to concepts and ideas about Islamic finance.”
The International Islamic Liquidity Management Corporation’s Acting CEO, Dr. Umar A. Oseni said:
“I find I-FIKR to be very comprehensive, having an array of contents required for practitioners and academia in Islamic finance. It is user friendly and time saving.”
FIKR is a knowledge portal dedicated to resources related to Islamic finance. A unique feature of I-FIKR is the ontology which maps out the entire Islamic finance industry, identifying the major branches, which are then sub-divided into particular topics. It shows the types, properties and interrelationships between the sectors. Materials available on the I-FIKR portal, publications, news, columns, fatwas, excepts, etc., are connected based on this rigorous and subtle design.
