Balder has issued its first green bond under the company’s MTN programme and green bond framework. The total issue consists of unsecured bonds of SEK 1 000m with a maturity of 5 years to a variable interest rate of Stibor + 1,58%.
The proceeds will be used in accordance with Balder’s green bond framework, which describes what projects and assets are eligible for financing with green bonds.
Balder has a framework for green bonds with the aim of financing projects that contribute to a reduced environmental impact.
The framework gives Balder the opportunity to issue green bonds, with the condition that the issue proceeds are only used for financing projects and assets covered by the green bond framework. This primarily concerns green and energy-efficient buildings, but also investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
Balder’s green bond framework has been developed in line with the industry standard Green Bond Principles 2018. The framework has undergone an independent evaluation by Cicero Shades of Green, and has been awarded the rating Medium Green. Balder will annually publish a Green Bond Impact Report with an account of how the funds have been used.
