The world’s leading ports operator COSCO SHIPPING Ports Limited is launching green finance framework verified by Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency, demonstrating the Company’s commitment in driving green development.
Bank of China (Hong Kong) has acted as the company’s green finance advisor.
The framework, which applies also to its subsidiaries, provides guidelines for the funding of green projects through green bonds and loans and regulating the use of proceeds.
The verification process was carried out in accordance with the Green Loan Principles and the Green Bond Principles. The Framework is also aligned with the Green Finance Certification Scheme.
COSCO SHIPPING Ports has been upholding the concept of sustainability in developing green and smart ports which offer mutual benefits and achieving the targets of reducing carbon emission and promoting energy efficiency, with an aim to creating value for its stakeholders.
Its participation in the Green Finance Certification Scheme fully demonstrates the commitment in driving the development of green and smart ports and its support in China’s advocacy of green finance development.
The company noted that it will continue to support national policy, for example in relation to Greater Bay Area projects and the Belt and Road Initiative, ‘by integrating green finance and sustainability into its business operations to further attract potential green finance investors’.
