The Turkish Automobiles Initiative Group (TOGG) presented the first Turkish-designed electric car during the world’s largest electronics exhibition CES 2022 in Las Vegas.
The company said in a statement that the concept of the first Turkish electric vehicle was launched with the aim of creating a global brand whose intellectual and industrial property is 100 percent owned by Turkey.
“We position ourselves as a technology company. That’s why we’re at CES, the showcase for the latest innovations and cutting-edge technologies. We are a mobility technology company based in a geographic area where East and West meet,” said Gürcan Karakash, TOGG’s CEO.
The first prototypes of Turkey’s first domestic cars – SUV C segment electric crossover and electric sedan were presented in December 2019.
Meanwhile, another Turkish company is also entering the EV industry. Martı, the first Turkish smart scooter rental service, also considers launching several EV projects in 2022.
The Turkish company started out its scooter subscription system in Istanbul few years ago and it has also expanded its services in many regions of the city, and has plans to launch similar services in neighboring countries such as Bulgaria.
A pioneer in the sector, Martı also focuses on protecting the environment with its low carbon emissions and practical solutions to the urban traffic in Turkey.
