Brookfield Renewable Partners LP (TSE:BEP.UN) last week agreed to sell CAD 300 million (USD 232.1m/EUR 197.8m) worth of green bonds as part of its first issuance of such corporate-level securities in Canada.
The medium-term notes will mature on January 15, 2029 and will bear an interest of 4.25% per year, the flagship renewable power company of Canada’s Brookfield Asset Management Inc (NYSE:BAM) said last week. The notes will be fully guaranteed by Brookfield Renewable and some of its key holding subsidiaries.
Funds from the transaction, carried out under the company’s green bond framework, will go towards supporting investments in renewable power generation projects and finance the development of clean energy technologies.
The notes were being offered through a group of agents led by Scotia Capital Inc, TD Securities Inc, CIBC World Markets Inc and HSBC Securities Canada Inc. They have been rated BBB+ by Standard & Poor’s and BBB (high), stable trend, by DBRS.
