Hungary sold HUF 30 billion of a 30-year green bond at auction last week, raising its original offer by HUF 10 bln on strong demand, according to data on the website of the Government Debt Management Agency (ÁKK).

Primary dealers’ bids for the bond reached HUF 46.3 bln. The average yield was 3.44%.

The benchmark yield on Hungary’s longest “conventional” forint bond, a 20-year security, was 3.38% yesterday. Hungary launched the green bond at an auction on April 22, Earth Day, and is selling the securities each quarter.

ÁKK expects full-year issuance to reach HUF 90 bln.

ÁKK also sold HUF 9 bln of a 12-month treasury bill at auction yesterday, cutting its original offer by HUF 11 bln after bids reached just HUF 20.6 bln. The average yield was 0.96%, 16 basis points over the benchmark.
