JPMorgan Asset Management, the $1.7tn fund giant, has hired a new global head of sustainable investing from rival BlackRock.

Jennifer Wu, who leads BlackRock’s sustainable investing team, will take up a similar role at JPMorgan Asset Management, according to a statement.

She will also lead its sustainable investing leadership initiative, a group of senior leaders tasked with developing best practices for sustainable investment across the organisation.

Christopher Willcox, chief executive of JPMorgan Asset Management, said: “We are aware of how environmental, social and governance factors can impact security valuations and enhance risk-adjusted return potential, and we are committed to fully integrating these principles into our portfolios.”

Shari Schiffman, co-head of JPMorgan Asset Management’s global product strategy, added:

“JPMorgan has been integrating ESG factors across our investment teams globally and will continue to build capabilities to meet increasing client demand for sustainable investing.”

Before BlackRock, Wu worked for the Asian Development Bank, focusing on energy-sector reform and infrastructure project finance. Wu will be based in London. Her start date was not specified.
