The South Korean National Postal Service, Korea Post, plans to use the blockchain technology in its system, according to News1 Korea local news agency.

This innovation is the result of cooperation between the South Korean government and local private companies, including the Coinplug cryptocurrency exchange and the global NHN IT company. According to the report, the South Korean authorities will allocate $677,000 to project participants to support this idea.
The Korea Post, acting under the direction of the Ministry of Science, will create a blockchain-payment method included in its postal service, using the experience of the Coinplug blockchain and NHN payment technology.
A pilot project will be launched in the city of Nadzhu, which was named the “Innovation City” and attracted several government agencies to move from Seoul.
Korea Post plans to use blockchain technology in the dispatch system. The report notes that the postal service is also considering the use of blockchain technology for remittances abroad.
