The UK government together with the Lima Stock Exchange (BVL) published on Friday a green bonds guide, aimed at creating a green bond market in Peru.
The document contains international best practices and the basic principles that must be met in order to issue green bonds to finance green energy projects. This is also the first joint initiative focused on developing a Peruvian securities market that includes green bonds.
MEXICO2, created by the Mexican exchange group Bolsa Mexicana de Valores, was the developer of this guide.
Aside from the cooperation with the UK, Peru is working together with the Netherlands’ Energy Research Centre (ECN) on an initiative to boost the economic and energy development in the Latin American country.
