The first Islamic Bank has opened in Suriname and will provide Islamic products and services to the local and regional banking sector.

The bank, Trustbank Amanah, received approval from the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS) to establish Islamic financing in the South American country.

Trustbank has promised to develop, support, and encourage Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Suriname in accordance with Islamic Finance principles.
