Entrepreneur Oğuz Alper Öktem, with his electric scooter sharing initiative Martı, which he founded in 2018, was awarded both the entrepreneur of the year and the initiative of the year at the Webrazzi Awards. Martı and Öktem received the awards in the same category last year as well.

Of course, the entrepreneur was unaware that he would achieve such a success when he used the Bird branded scooter he brought from the USA in 2017 to go from his home in Bostancı to his best friend living in Erenköy in congested traffic. The journey, which took only seven minutes, was in fact, the birth of Martı.

“The micro-mobility industry is a structure that can grow with a significant amount of investment. We also receive investments from all over the world. Unfortunately, the cancellation of flights or people’s hesitation to travel slowed down the process. People who will invest in our brand come face to face with us and meet, naturally, they want to spend time with us and visit our office,” the CEO said.

The business that started with 20 people continues with more than a thousand employees. The number of users has exceeded 5 million.

For those who don’t know, Martı scooters first appeared on the streets of Kadıköy, and thanks to the positive feedback, they were introduced to the European side.

“We have been moving forward with this vision since the day we were founded. Serving people with different vehicle types is one of our biggest goals. We continue our work in this context. We will have surprises in the near future. As I mentioned previously, the investment is ours. We aim to create billions of dollars worth of value for our country by making even more investments with the tours we will complete. And of course, the continuity of user satisfaction. We are constantly trying and striving to offer the best to those who love the seagull. To provide the most accurate service with the best improvements, and in 2021, too of what we will do,” Alper Öktem said.
